'Lenny DiNardo Nude'

That was a very common JoS search string years ago. (I am not sure why.) It may make a comeback.

Rob Bradford, WEEI:
The team has agreed to terms with left-handed pitcher Lenny DiNardo on a minor-league, split contract. DiNardo confirmed the agreement by phone from Fort Myers, where he is working out. He has taken the team’s physical, with results of an MRI being the only thing remaining to finalize the deal. DiNardo said that he will be ready as either a starting depth option or as a reliever.

DiNardo, 31, spent three years with the Sox from 2004-06 ... DiNardo ended up turning in the best year of his career in 2007 under then-Oakland (and now Sox) pitching coach Curt Young.

Dave Cameron of Fangraphs was asked in the chat Wednesday if Theo was being foolish not spending on relievers when this team arguably needs them more than the teams ponying up the money.

His response was a strong no. Relief arms are extremely volatile, and you can easily make a decent bullpen out of minor leaguers, and waiver wire pickups.

It seems like anyone joining our pen will be doing it on a minor league contract.

In Theo I trust.

As long as it is a minor league contract there is nothing to lose.

And today Cameron wrote an article backing up his argument with some striking figures.

And now BOBBY JENKS!

Buster Olney:

"Heard this: Heard this: The Red Sox have agreed to a two-year, $12 million deal with Bobby Jenks [pending a physical].

Besides the disaster as was the lack of proofreading that last comment, you get the idea.

A friend of mine just said:

"Any time a Yankees fan responds to a signing by saying simply, 'FUCK SHIT ASS DAMN', I am a fan of the move."

Seems I have what it takes to be a 'professional' Boston sport journalist.

I say something only to have it contradicted 3 hours later.

but check this 2010 comparison
Papelbon 10.2K/9 3.7BB/9
Jenks 10.4K/9 3.1BB/9

The biggest difference between the two is Jenk's ground ball percentage was much high (58% to 38%)
