Red Sox-Yankees Opening 2008 In Asia?

MLB is in preliminary negotiations with several teams -- including the Red Sox and Yankees -- to open the 2008 season in Japan.

The Yankees and Devil Rays began the 2004 season in Japan -- a trip that Mike Mussina used as an excuse for his poor performance for months and months afterwards.

Japan? I see no plausible reason why the Red Sox OR Yankees would appeal to ANYONE in Japan!

Horrible idea. Let the Devil Rays and Orioles open in Japan, and leave Sox / Yankees to the US. It's hard enough getting tickets for that without artificially messing up demand.

It's a bad idea for the Red Sox and Yankees, but both teams have a huge following in Japan - even before Matsui and Dice-K were here.

Or maybe Tim was joking and I didn't get it.

Oh, the '04 Japan series where the Yanks had the Ricoh logo plastered all over their uniforms and got to wear home uniforms despite technically being the road team because the Japanese people supposedly wanted to see the pinstripes? And where Giambi picked up that "parasite"? Yeah, I remember that one.

L: I'd say Tim's caps and punctuation have joke written all over them...

Wang has a perfect game through seven. I wouldn't want to jinx the perfect game by saying "perfect game." Perfect game. Perfect game. Come on, perfect game.

Perfect game.

Four minutes from jinx attempt to jinx. Not a bad record for this vicinity.
