Red Sox Sign Ross

The Red Sox signed catcher David Ross to a minor-league contract and sent him to Pawtucket. Ross had a .381 on-base percentage in 52 games with the Reds this season.

Tim Wakefield says his shoulder is pain-free. He'll throw another side session on Sunday and Terry Francona would not rule out using Wakefield in the Yankees series next week. That may depend on what happens with Josh Beckett, who will throw on the side tomorrow.

SoSH TaLK on the Buchholz demotion. Since May 7, Buchholz has pitched in 10 games, including nine starts: 42 innings, 62 hits, 27 walks, 39 strikeouts, 9.21 ERA and an opponents batting line of .343/.427/.536. HH:
When I put one guy on base, it feels like the bases are loaded. Instead of gritting my teeth and saying, "Let's get these guys out," I'm thinking, "Now what's going to happen?" I don't have a very high confidence level and something has to change.
Laptop will be reunited with Portland pitching coach Mike Cather, who also worked with Buchholz in Wilmington (A).

Julio Lugo, looking forward to beginning a rehab assignment in Pawtucket next week, reinjured his left quadriceps yesterday while running sprints at Camden Yards.

Hell yes! I wonder how this effects the deal we're willing to give Tek. Any idea how Ross is as a "game caller?"

OT: I just skimmed last night's game thread.

I hope you all got all that campaign talk out of your systems! Not because it's not appropriate, or because you might offend someone (as a threader suggested), but because I might go ballistic in a way never before seen in a gamethread or any other thread.

Also, good call 9C: I am most certainly not "praying" for the wild card. :)

I am expecting it, however.

I am in no way suggesting anyone light L's fuse, but the level of entertainment would not be insignificant.

Shitty day for this guy

Normally I wouldn't have said much of anything if this was a JoS game thread, but I knew it wasn't going to be anything big anyways. Plus, I wanted something to take my mind off of the game, and we were running out of penis names for baseball players.

I actually think that'd be interesting.

Yes, it might be interesting. Even entertaining. But not for me!

we were running out of penis names for baseball players

Ha!

James, nice avatar. I'm also a fan of Doc's. I believe Allan and I saw him a couple of times, playing with son Merle.

(Coltrane fan, too. Your profile has much to recommend it.)

Danke, L-Girl.

I know Merle passed away, but I saw the two of them a few times back when I lived in Indiana, when I was pretty young.

The day you find God and Religion is the day I become a vegetarian......2 of the most self-righteous groups in America .If you dont know that they are into religion or a vegetarian , don't worry they will tell you....

I usually don't learn if people are vegetarians until we have a meal together, and seeing their choices, I ask.

I usually learn if people are religious when they tell me they will pray for me. And then I fight with myself to be nice.

I doubt I'm one of the noticeable no-shows that 9casey is referring to, but I've been painfully busy lately. Last night I would've been psyched to sit and watch a game, but nooo... stupid days off. These guys are professionals; why should they get to take days off in the summer? not like they work.

Maybe that could have off days on Saturdays. That would suit my schedule must better.
