Pedro!

More pics (and NESN video clip). It would have been a completely perfect three minutes if not for the unnecessary and utterly insipid music. And not surprisingly, ESPN botched the entire thing, showing only a short snip of the pitch after the fact.

Also, there was that whole A-Rod interruption.

Thanks for the links to the pics at SOSH. I missed all that last night (work).

Seeing Pedro with the Red Sox jersey on brought tears to my eyes! I also loved him making Tek laugh before he finally threw that first "pitch."

And Beckett gets a 4/68 extension. Good times.

Perhaps Pedro needs to sign to retire as well.

"In the Air Tonight" has to be in the top-ten worst songs ever, right? WTF were they thinking?

You can't really tell from the linked video, and not sure if ESPN's cut left this out, but Pedro walked off the mound towards home plate (as if he was going to throw from there), cracked himself up, then returned to the mound to throw the first pitch.

Mercy, how I love that dear boy. He was a gunslinger. I have fond memories of watching him at a game at Fenway- him reaching back for that "something extra". Late in the game, two out, two strikes on the hitter, crowd on their feet. Blistering unhittable heat- strike three- crowd goes nuts. Pedro walks off the mound with that little swagger.

We don't forget.

That is included in my vids if you go to my blog. Or if anyone's interested in seeing the same stuff from different angles.... that whole thing really was incredibly loud and amazing.
