Athletics - 200 000 000 - 2 7 11st inning: Pedroia single, Youkilis home run, Ortiz single, Lowell single, Bay home run. 5 batters, 5 hits, 5 runs.
Red Sox - 504 010 02x - 12 14 0
It was a nine-batter, 46-pitch first inning for Eveland. He got the side in order in the second and faced four batters in the third: Lowell double, Bay walk, Drew walk, Lowrie 3-RBI double. Lenny DiNardo came on and pitched the final six innings: 6-6-3-3-2, 89, facing one less batter than Lester.
Lester (7-7-2-1-5, 100) had a first inning hiccup, when Sweeney began the game with a single, Brown bopped a hanging curve for a one-out dong, and Thomas and Ellis followed with singles. After a visit from Farrell, Lester got a double play to end the inning.
And the A's did not get another runner past first base all evening.
Youkilis hit a second home run, a 2-run shot in the eighth, his 20th of the season. All of the starters got at least one hit -- and the entire bench saw some game time.
The standings remain the same as Tampa Bay beat Detroit 9-3 and New York beat Los Angeles 8-2.

Dana Eveland (3.88, 101 ERA+) / Jon Lester (3.17, 139 ERA+)
But first: Angels/Yankees at 3:45 PM and Tigers/Rays at 6 PM

This team went from being a stumbling, bumbling team to playoff ready, overnight.
3 straight outs for Bay .....
dump him while his stock is high, theo!!!!
First of all, every nice looking woman can look amazing in a picture, as long as it's done right.
And anyway- really not my style. Boring, stereotypical, non-striking beauty.
Patrick, maybe you're just an anything-with-... man. You fill in the blank, as you choose.
What ofer said.

Like Andy?
89-pitch relief outing for DiNardo!
Tony - try GDGD. I curse it, (I think I first referred to it as GDGD) but it does the job.
Does DiNardo have a ring? I can't remember if he is one of The 25.
haha Redsock, I was about to post something similar.

Maybe it's just because they've had it forever, but I think the Pirates are the only team that can pull off the vest uni. It looks terrible on any other team.
lester faced one more batter than dinardo did, 27-26!
I think I'm the only serious baseball fan who likes the vest unis.
I'm just easy.
I love when the game finishes before I leave work. Especially a game like this.
He played that year, but I don't think he was on the WS roster.
BR is your friend.
12-2... NICE.
The Devil Ray vest was gross.
L-girl, am pretty sure that Dinardo got a ring. They gave rings to anybody who was on the team at anytime during the year. Even Nomar got one.
I'm just easy.
Any niece will do.
no playoffs at all for lenny.
I think I could guess the what the score will be when you get home, L!
"... is your friend" is going on the Banned List.
Nomar getting a ring = cool

I sure hope so.
speaking of 25, now down to 4 on the team. Timlin, Wake, Tek and Papi (or have I missed someone).

The 'game' ended in the 3rd inning. Since then it's been pure exhibition and fun.

Dirty water!
easy! dirt dirt dirt
Wow, they updated MLB Gameday. Kinda cool, actually.
the Water is oh so dirty!!!
Timlin, Wake, Tek and Papi (or have I missed someone).
I look forward to that number shrinking further.
Very, verrrrry dirty water!

Dirty! Very Dirty!
drity watre
Anyone interested, I'm going to post a couple pictures of the crashed car on my blog.
See you all tomorrow!
I look forward to that number shrinking further
hmmm, I wonder who you mean!!!
Keep banking those wins, guys!
someone's asleep at the switch at Extra Innings HQ - I got the whole Kathryn Tappen post-game intro before they put up the "Good Night!" slide.
1:35 game tomorrow, yep looking forward to the Sox going for the sweep.
TWO IN A ROW! WOW!

Youk?
And Schilling is sort of on the team now.
Love that unsanitary h2o.
And Barbies are fun to look at. From a distance. (the real ones, not the dolls)(well, maybe if you're Patrick)
Problem is, if you look like a doll it is generally assumed, rightfully or not, that you have approximately the same IQ as one. And in my experience, it's usually been rightfully.
hmmm, I wonder who you mean!!!
more than one person!
the post game with tappan and mocha= AWKWARD
A conformer you are right I forgot youk.
Schilling is still part of the team but I really don't think he will ever pitch for the Sox again.
I do think he will pitch somewhere next year but it won't be for the Sox or the Yankees. Right now I'm betting it will be the Rays.
The Sox have not lost a single game in the Jason Bay era.
Hey, no IQ assumptions based on looks, please!
Why am I still on this thread??? Bye!
MANNY IS A BUM!!!111111111111
*drool*
Terry - Bay has a little bit faster foot speed than I thought.
He is absolutely loving the Youk year, well yeah, so am I!!!
More than one?
Ah, Tek.
Well, I see your point, but you know, he WOULD make a good defensive sub type 2nd catcher.
That whole 'old veteran bring the young guys along' kind of thing.
But then, I'm a romantic.
Or maybe.....I'm just tripping
Thanks for backing me up Sosock, even on such a stupid subject.
off to eat then go to work, see everybody tomorrow!!!
L-G, I hope you know that I would not make said assumptions, I was simply stating that they are made, often.
manana
Better yet, I'm not going to blog about it. I'll just link the two pictures:

scary. glad yr ok!
Car wrecks = bad, very bad.
And it happens so freaking fast.
Glad everyone's OK.
Manny just SMOKED the first pitch he saw tonight to deep left. His first Dodger HR.
MBM! 1st pitch dong!
Sosock, I know. :)
Wish I had seen Manny's HR! Took him an extra day, but I'm glad it did it on his 1st home stand.
Scully: "Manny's being Manny and the Dodgers lead 2-0."
Career #511.
Mobbed in dugout.
Curtain call - crowd goes nuts!
In the "Small World" dept. -
As everyone knows, much too well, I coach LL baseball. Right now I'm coaching our Big League Team, 16-18 yr-olds.
Now I'm sitting watching the Big League World Series from SC on ESPNU and thinking "what if". Our district opted not to participate in the national tournament. Long story, it's on my blog. If we had, I would have chosen a squad from all 6 teams in our district and gone to Fla. as the manager of the NC team. With mostly guys from my own team, of course.
THEN - I see that the South Carolina team that is in the final against Puerto Rico is mostly made up of guys from Riverside High. My best friend from LL, who was my assistant coach for 7 years, moved to SC so his kid could go to Riverside. They have a super-strong baseball program. I'm not saying his kid is on this team, he's probably not. And I'm not saying we would have won in Florida and advanced to this level. We probably wouldn't have. But it could have happened, and I bet my friend is there. What a small world it can be.
And as I write this, SC has come back from a 4 - 0 deficit in the final inning and won the BL World Series.
Wow
MANNY!
"if manny keeps hitting home runs, maybe they'll let it go, and let it GROW!"
vin RE: manny cutting his hair.
awesome
Just got in from getting food after the exam. Went well.
This game certainly went awesomely! Sweet deal.
Had to listen to this one in the car; luckily they finished halfway through Connecticut so I still had reception.
So... "Everybody Loves Jason Raymond Bay"?
shit ish, looks bad - definitely good thing you escaped with minor injury!
looks like it could be repaired though...but i dont know much about cars. if the actual frame is damaged, looks like it is, then that's probably grounds for writing it off.
At second glance...maybe not damage to the frame.
Last night's game was so much fun, as you might imagine. Tek with TWO hits, including a double and a couple of RBIs!! And though it wasn't the most exciting game in terms of tension, it was sure a lot of fun to watch all those hits.
We were sitting in Box 91 in the RF---only problem was that to see the batter, I had to stare around the pesky Pesky Pole, which was annoying, especially with people walking up and down the aisles. Why can't people sit STILL? No one gets up and down that much at a movie or a concert.
Anyway, I thought of you all several times. Almost yelled out "Sweaty Dong: TWICE! And when they put LBJ in, I almost yelled LBJ. It was a good seat to watch his back(side). And I was delighted to see that you all remembered I was there to represent JOS---I kept thinking last night, "I bet they are thinking that I am excited to see Tek get those hits." I was.
One negative note: when Bay hit his HR, the crowd started chanting, "Manny Who?" over and over. That made me sad....
Anyway, perhaps I will post this into today's thread (when it is up) so that someone besides Laura and Allan will see it!
I see it Amy! Great game for you to go to, I know I'd prefer to see a Sox blowout than the type of game I went to see last year. This year's better be better!
