In case people miss Laura's update, Allan is in the hospital with what seems to be kidney stones. Check the link to WMTC in the main post. (I have been known to jump to comments if I don't get here until after the game has started, so maybe there are others like me who wouldn't have seen the link to wmtc.)

My Hero......Seriously I hope all is allright.....
Nail biter in TB.
This ought to be interesting with this lineup and the pitcher.
How the fuck are the Devils so good with their batting averages?
Hi, we're here, resting, drinking herbal tea. Are people here or did everyone go to Ish's?
(And yes, that was Allan.)
You know who that was, right??? Leadoff double for Lyndon.
Oh well, looks like no one's threading here tonight, probly all assuming we're not here.
Hi guys
Ooh, hospitals = not my favorite subject at the moment.
Hope all is well very soon.
Guess I'm stuck with GDGD.
I'll check out Ish's spot and pass along that you're here
IM HERE!
AND SO IS BAILEY!
Gumball dong!
(Fuck it, I'll thread by myself!)
Hi, all. I'm here, at least for the moment. How are you feeling, Allan? Better?
Hey, hi! (Should've refreshed before I posted.)
Doesn't look like Ish put a game thread up. Guess it's just a slow night.
There goes the no-donger!
A's not threading, he can't open his eyes.
He says thanks to everyone for all the nice comments and concern.
From what I hear, the next few days will not be fun!
9C's little script there is very funny. :)
So, apparently it's just that slow tonight. No thread at Ish's.
Hey, looka there. A Dong, from a bonus spot, too.
Bowden's line looks OK, 1R, 2H, 1BB, not great. But hey, who could expect great 1st time out. And there's still time to get great, ya know.
Big question is - how does he LOOK?
Can't tell that on GDGD, just see numbers.
LOOKS LIKE EVERYONE ATE THEIR SPINACH TONIGHT!
YEAH!!!!!!!
You cannot catch him!!!
3/4 dong for lyndon
Bowden looked pretty hittable. Two long outs, two doubles. Several meaty fastballs.
Jedi scrotum.
Why doesn't Captain SASAHE tell him to lay off the fastballs?
i cant believe the rays won. i mean i believe it, but i cant...
I think he threw Swisher 2-3 curveballs, so maybe he is. Anyway, he will have to throw the fastball a lot, like everybody else this side of Wakefield.
BIG Papi -
We miss you. Please come back.
Although I'm well aware his lower production lately may well be due to someone ELSE who's missing.
Thank you not so much, FO.
With the lead padded a little, I'm off to the showers. My nursesock duties today consisted mainly of trying to cope with 3 + weeks of sheer neglect in Sockette's garden.
She loves her garden more than almost anything, and she has no strength to get out there herself, so I pointed to 1 growth after another and said "is this a flower or a weed?", then acted accordingly. I'm a mess,
Wow. That was 10cm too high.
don in regards to LBJs non-catch " a lot going on there"
ha
Sosock, that's so good of you, good luck with the garden.
I've just been reading up on kidney stones.
Where else would the thread have been?
...Nevermind.
boy, bowden really isnt fooling many tonight.
i hope we score some more runs before those POP UP BOMB OUS turn into pop up dongs.
I wasn't around this afternoon - had no idea anything was up.
I know Jere is offline, so I figured... but I shouldn't have assumed.
Just in time for a Heidi sighting Ish!
Masterson's words for Bowden were so sweet! "Relax, have fun, and hopefully this will be the start of a beautiful major league career."
I love the use of the word "beautiful" to describe a major league career. Masterson's an interesting dude. Not in a bad way!
Yeah, he is interesting. And apparently his wife bakes great cookies. :)
As far as kidney stones go, my father certainly has had his share of experience with kidney stones. Woke up at 3 AM one morning in excruciating pain, about three years ago. The stones were actually a blessing in disguise. They ran blood and found out his blood sugar was 300, and he had type II diabetes.
In the next eight months he had changed his diet completely, started exercising, bought a bike, and lost over 50 pounds. But those damn kidney stones! They would sneak up every now and then. He had two lithotripsy procedures, etc. He still has some "gravel" still in there that bothers him from time to time.
At least in Allan's case it sounds like this will be just a pass it and move on type of thing, right?
I love that FY's batting clean-up. When I first heard, it didn't immediately occur to me. Had to think about it for a second - I couldn't believe it.
WRKO misses the first pitch.
Well, Allan doesn't have diabetes, if that's what you mean. Great news that your dad changed his lifestyle - very likely life-saving for him.
Some people are prone to kidney stones, but it usually has no other meaning than that, not connected to any other disease, from what they said at the hospital and what I'm reading online.
If they recur a lot, there are things you can try, like avoiding certain foods. But for now, we'll just wait for this 1st one to get the hell out of there...!
No, I wasn't implying that. Having the kidney stones coincidentally led to him being diagnosed with diabetes. Good timing, I'd say.
It looks like Buehrle is settling down. Good thing that Bowden looks better too.
It's like when you get into an accident, go to the hospital, have tests done, and they find out something else is going on completely unrelated.
Buehrle has to do the kiss-and-point-to-the-sky thing after every good inning???
We should all try that on our jobs. Every time you do something decent at work, point to the ceiling.
Oh Ish, I get it. Yes, that was extremely lucky for your dad. But all credit to him for how he dealt with it. The proverbial "wake up call", and it worked.
Some good opportunities to point to the sky, or the ceiling, whichever comes first...
I un-jammed the copying machine!
I finally finished this two hour stint of cashiering! Break time! Thank you, Lord.
I finished delivering the mail.
I didn't kill anybody with the fork lift!
I edited a PowerPoint!
I scanned a closing book!
I typed an agreement!
Whoo-hoo!
So the Yankees did lose, huh? I listened to most of the game, having left in the 8th inning or so, when it was 6-5 Yankees. And they fucking lost! :D
That was me at the law firm on weekends, btw.
I removed a kidney stone!
Yeah, NYY blew a 6-2 lead, too. I listened on the radio back and forth from the hospital.
I removed a kidney stone!
Now, some of the people I saw today, docs and nurses, they could be forgiven for whoo-hoo'ing when their work goes well.
I think so too.
High camera shot by NESN... Truped! But I was listening to Castig and he sounded more calm.
Bowden has been living on the warning track all day long. Probably done for the day now.
Bowden's done.
ish does your Dad still have problems with the sugar...is he on insulin....Kidney stones suck my sister just went through them while pregnant .not fun labor and kidney stones...

If we make the playoffs throwing this lineup out there for a month..kudos to Theo and the development squad....
Hahaha! Two infield hits for Papi in two games. Maybe he should bat leadoff?
FUCK YEAH!!!!
Francona thought he was called out, haha!
FUCK YEAH!!!
There's that sound Ish loves.
And here's Tito to argue, inexplicably.
WHAT A SLIDE!!! HE DEEKED HIM!!! He lifted his left hand, went around Ramirez's glove, and put it on the bag! WOW!
Labor *and* kidney stones?! Yuck!
Man, is FY gonna give Tito shit for that one.
2 more! 7-2!!
Yeah, we've seen FY do that a few times this year. The reacharound slide. :)
That play was ridiculous. Pedroia leisurely lifting his arm over the tag, Tito so sure he was out he came out to argue.
And Kotsay with another 2B! He's been good so far.
Anyways, Casey, my dad's sugars have stayed down, between 90-120, in the healthy zone, since he lost the weight. Two years now he's stayed healthy and has ridden his bike a ton, and his blood sugars are still healthy. But he realizes he's still a diabetic, even though his blood sugars are routinely normal and he's so healthy. And that's how it goes.
FY: "Who wants the first reacharound?!"
FY has 41 hits in August

Good for him , how old is he
Good for him , how old is he
49... He was 45 when he was diagnosed.
FY: "Who wants the first reacharound?!"
Where's Andy?
Ish's dad is only 2 years older than me.
I was thinking that was Joe was here - I'm probably around his mom's age. Funny, when you know someone in a different context.
Jeez, Ish's dad is younger than me. I guess a few others here as well.
Nice hitting last inning. Saw your description of Pedroia's slide. Hate I missed it.
Keep piling on.
We are a multi-generational crew here at JoS. It's cool.
It goes to show just how long a year is, and how crazy time is. Time is long, but time is short.
It IS cool. Very cool.
Time is long, but time is short.
If Jere was here I'say - It is what it is - just to get him going :>
Hard to believe the hurricane Gustov is a category 4 now. Although I'm not terribly surprised. Meteorologists usually tend to under-forecast the intensity of storms like that. Not necessarily their fault, though. They have tons of computer models to sort through and then to make their own judgements.
I can't believe how fast years seem to go now. Such a cliche, but man is it true - the older you get, the faster time seems to go. Wooosh.
I heard it was category 5. Was it downgraded?
I heard this afternoon.
Don losing it!
I used to say "it is what it is" all the time. My mother got so angry sometimes.
Did Remy say anything when he thought they weren't back from commercial?
Tonight's Twisted Tea promo: "When your manager comes out to argue, even though you're safe! Now that's twisted."
I don't think it has weakened (although running over Cuba might knock 10 mph off of it shortly)... But right now winds are 150 mph (much much much much faster than you drove A to the hospital...241 km/h)... Hasn't been a 5 yet, but tomorrow it should be.
CBC and BBC both have it as a Category 5. Canada has a traveler's warning out, and it says 5.
Remy did say something when he didn't know they were back, but I didn't hear it.
One way or another... Amazing that in 24 hours, the storm went from a tropical storm to a Category 4/5.
MVP!
Man, I love that Pedroia.
I would love to see another good outing by MDC tonight.
Nice 7th inning MDC!
FY jumping 3/4 of his height.
Replace your divot!
Asked for - granted!
9 pitch OTT!
MVP chants!
MVP chants for Pede.
FY asked Francona, when he saw himself in the clean-up spot... "What took you so long?"
The boy is a wrecking crew! Amazing.
4 for 4 X 2. Nice!
Crazy. It's just insane.
Kotsay again! They are hitting up a storm. Love it!!!
Day #2 and my gf isn't going to be able to take this NESN stuff much longer.
That IBB will likely end Tek's hitting streak (4!).
Oh. They're IBBing Varitek? Strange. Bailey, don't let this disrespect stand.
He did.
Bailey let this disrespect stand. :\
And it's only day 2! Not a good sign.
How did the move go?
Hubby keeps channel flipping b/w the white sox and the red sox broadcasts and it's driving me NUTS! What is it about men and remote controls???
Pain in the ass. Literally: every muscle aches, including my glutes.
Towing a car up I-95 behind a truck wasn't fun either.

I'm already getting the "How many times did I make you watch the [MFY] in New York?" chatter.
She hates Hank though and thinks they never should've gotten rid of Torre.
Great baserunning there by A.J.
Sosock, that's great. You could do those for all the players.
I mean, if you had nothing else to do. :)
Phil, I don't envy you. When we had professional movers for the first time (when we moved to Canada, b/c we had to), I suddenly realized how great and easy the whole thing could be.
What, Pierzynski didn't try to elbow Jed and take a dive?
(And how expensive, of course.)
UHaul is utter crap, too. They put my truck and my car trailer in different locations.
DP
WOW!!! Did you see that play! How was that a double play>?!
But is she a big baseball fan? Does it matter to her?
Nice DP!
UHaul is a nightmare.
Wow, the pitching is really on tonight. Or are the WS just that bad?
Doesn't seem like it. I'll go with the great pitching myself :)
Do you think Cora grew the beard because he couldn't find a chin?
Speed!
Safe! Of course. :)
Speed kills.
"It's off the green!"
LJC, I think that's it exactly.
I used to call his brother Joey "Weasel" because of the chin.
I used to call Alex Cora "Weasel Junior" - until he became a Red Sox. :)
Nice cutoff.
8-2!
ROFL on the Weasel.
Joey Cora used to irritate me no end. You know how there are players you just can't stand? (Like maybe Eckstein?) The Weasel... I just couldn't stand him.
Boooooo. I wanted to see FY have a 5 hit game!
Nice catch by OCab.
I have to sign out of the thread for the night. See you all tomw! (Or I hope to.)
Moderation still off?
nite!
Yep.
So this Bowden kid's pretty good. He definitely got lucky scattering all those hits, though.
AJ has wild hair!
First round of dirty water is on me!
Water.
Nice win tonight. Sweep tomorrow.
Go Sox!
i cant believe pedroia. awesome
Agua -
The pen did great tonight.
1 inning each.
Javy - 12 pitch OTT,
MDC - 9 pitch OTT (helped by a DP)
Bat - 12 pitch OTT (helped by DP)
Jeemer - 11 pitch OTT
Hard to argue with that!
Better late than never: water!
Modding going back on. See you all soon.
Hopefully Allan will be up for some schadenfreude posting tomorrow.

DOUBLE TEAM
A-ROD, BULLPEN FAIL YANKEES
By MIKE PUMA
There are 11 games remaining in the current Yankee Stadium, but forget the nostalgia for a minute. How many of these Yankees actually will make it across the street to open the new building next season?
The list of sure bets to return is shrinking with each defeat.
Daily News:
Yankees squander late lead, rally falls short as Blue Jays win 7-6
BY ANTHONY MCCARRON
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER
Yankee fans, shocked an inning earlier when their team gave away a big lead, were on their feet and the Stadium had October energy once again. Alex Rodriguez was at the plate with two runners on and the Yanks down by one, and A-Rod was "as relaxed with an at-bat as I've been in a week."
Rodriguez did exactly what he wanted to do, too - he hit the ball hard, a solid grounder toward third. Problem was, Jose Bautista gloved it and started a double play that sucked the life out of the Yanks' rally. Moments later, Cody Ransom, who had entered the game as a defensive replacement for Jason Giambi in the eighth, flew out to abruptly end the game.

Just got in. So glad to see Allan is home and doing ok. Also glad to see the Sox won, but frankly, happier that Allan is ok.
Off to bed!
Oakland edges Minnesota on a Joe Nathan throwing error, 3-2.
Well had some time to watch replays of the Game last night at work (a weird day yesterday and I slept through the game). A couple of Houdini acts but the rookie looked good.
Off to the lake house on Sunday (today)and Monday where there is no internet. Enjoy today's game will see you Tuesday night!!!
