"They don't need to but they give blogs some nice pub"
They actually do need to. Traditional media is losing so many viewers/listeners to new media. They need to dream up tie-ins like this or they fade away into irrelevance. (Or continue to do so.)

Isn't that like owning a McDonald's and giving away Burger King coupons........
"My information was good, but my delivery was too slow, I paused and umm-ed too much, and my stutter was more noticeable than usual."
I just listened. You talked as fast as you needed to. You do "um" a bit, but (a) you can work on that if you want, and (b) no one notices. And no one would notice your stutter but you.
Anytime I've had the displeasure of listening to or watching myself do media, I've hated it - picking apart my performance. But other listeners focus on the information, not on the delivery.
I truly think you did a great job and you should do as many of these opportunities as come up.
You were trying to get out a new subject, something that most people have not really thought of so it took more explanation then you really had time for so you were rushed. If you said all of that in that short of a time and did not say um at all you would have sounded like a rushed robot. It's impressive though that your blog looks at things other then the popular topics. He wanted to hammer the Papi talk cuz thats hot right now. Hopefully somebody out there saw this firstly and then found your segment interesting enough to come over here and get abused by me.
I thought you were clear and spoke fast enough. And I did not notice any ums or stutter. Like Ish and Laura said, we all hate to hear our own voices, whether on the air or on the answering machine.
Interesting segment, and it showed that JOS has more than the obvious stuff that most news outlets and blogs have (like what should we do with Ortiz and what is wrong with our pitchers). Nice job!
Good stuff. I remember listening to the Baseball Show on WEEI, it was far and away the best that station had to offer. I don't remember it having been anything like this, though.

This is a good point. When you (anyone) doesn't want to read from a script, wants to be casual, "ums" are going to come out. If you can cut down on them, fine. But I wouldn't let it worry you, you did really well.

I haven't heard Allan yet. I'm sure he was great.

It's more like McDonald's realizing it has to serve something besides burgers and fries.

So there.
I had a hard enough time recording a voicemail greeting yesterday. Took me 18 times to finally get it... decent.
And yet, one of the things I'm interested in doing is broadcasting. Hmmm.

How about that Manny guy eh?
What's up with Papi?
My question is what is the next big deal? I hope it's, Why hasn't lugo been put down like a broken race horse that never came to be?
Nice job, Allan. I was asked yesterday to be on tomorrow's show by phone. Looking forward to it!
