So [Brian Cashman] did a bit of research, discovered Teixeira had a fondness for Twisted Sister ... Sure, it helped that the Yankees eventually offered $180 million over eight years, but what really wowed Teixeira was the super cool video Cashman revealed when he came to visit in the middle of December.Teixeira:
Shot in the new stadium, with digitalized images of what Teixeira might look like as he ran out of the dugout and onto the grass, the crowd at a froth, the New York skyline in the distance, the sound track blared "I Wanna Rock." Cashman pressed play.
"Hey, that's my song!" Cashman recalled Teixeira saying as he and I walked through the old stadium hallways. "I was like, yeah, we know that."
And at that point, with Twisted Sister on blast, Leigh, Teixeira's college sweetheart who is now his wife, said, "I want you to be a Yankee."
Two weeks before Christmas, I talked to [my wife] Leigh about it again, and we kind of decided that, hey, the Yankees are where we want to be. Cash might want to give Leigh a hug, because when I asked her during the process, "Where should I go, where should I go?," she'd always say, "I just want you to be happy." Finally she said, "I want you to be a Yankee," and it was a done deal. Once we got the contract figured out, it was a no-brainer for me.If Teixeira is telling the truth, then he made his mind to sign with New York one week before perpetrating the charade of his interest in the Red Sox and summoning the Boston brass (John Henry, Theo Epstein, et al.) to Texas -- which was Thursday, December 18.
So the fucker apparently wants us to believe that a Twisted Sister video was the clincher. He's coming across like A-Rod Jr. ... In the words of Fat Billy, what a dushbag.

Sounds like he belongs in the Bronx.......we'll be just fine without him.
I am liking this non signing more and more. "Honey, I want you to be a Yankee." Goodness, could this be any more sickening?
How silly. I guess we see who wears the pants in that relationship. That story is...ugh! So lame...
Man, I'm looking forward to mercilessly pounding this team for the next decade and beyond.
Honey, I want you to be a Yankee.
Is that what goes for pillow talk in the Teixeira household?
Actually, what I like better is the comment Cashman made during the news conference yesterday (courtesy of Surviving Grady):
Winning the winter means squat. I know Teixeira is a player [Boston] wanted, but they're not a one-trick pony.
So you spent all that money... not with the intention of winning a championship?
Cashman also said that he expects tex to suck i the first half of the season every year. High expectations for 180 mil. That's essentially 4 seasons of the 8 they contracted him for that he will be a non-contributor.
I would have liked having that bat but you guys are right he is a doucheeeee and he belongs over there in over-rated land. Too bad though that Mrs. Douche won't be joining the other wives in that run they do and the other wifely activities. We lost Mrs.
Schill and Mrs. Toast.
I am SO going to love trashing this guy over the next 8 years or so.
Jesus, guy, Theo coulda played that shit blindfolded on his guitar for ya. But hey, some people just have their heart set on playing for a third place team.
Clevland Pavono's.
I know the Sox will play awesome and get into the playoffs but I worry about how many wins the Yanklees will get and will that number combined with the Rays be enough to keep the Sox out? I predict a collapse in Tampa or wherever they play. They went out and got a veteran which is the recipe for disaster for many teams with young talent. It has also done good things for many teams. I just think the Rays were all on the same hot streak, much like how girls who spend a lot of time together have the same monthly cycles. They are too cocky to continue. Oh and I cannot wait to see that. I predict that Cashman is right and the yankees will suck the first half and we will run out to a 2007 lead. Can we pick up Peavy though? We can afford it and man that would be awesome.
Why the hell is Cora unsigned? He is a genius. Can we keep Kotsay? Is the new JC Romero success attributable to his new vitamin habit? Randy Johnson gets paid millions to be injured, I love it.
I knew the Red Sox' video special effects team was going to be a problem going into this season. I knew we should have signed Scott Farrar when we had a chance!
Best take so far james.
*COUGH*TOOL*COUGH*
excuse me.
go sox
I guess we see who wears the pants in that relationship.
The sexism police will be visiting the Tim household shortly.

No sexism at all, I just find it pathetic that he based his career decisions on the wishes of his wife.

I do, too. That's not sexist. Especially since her wishes were not "play for a winning team," or "play for the team that treats you best" or something rational!
But... the expression "who wears the pants" is sexist. If I explain it here I'll be accused of lecturing, so you'll have to trust me, it is sexist, in more than one way.
At least he'll be easy to root against.
cunty bollocks.

Yeah, i get what you're saying and I had a debate before saying it, but definitely was not my intention to be sexist.

I know. Just wanted to warn you the police would be visiting. :)
