Globe: Middlebrooks Has Broken Wrist

Will Middlebrooks suffered a broken wrist when he was hit by a pitch in the ninth inning of last night's game. He could miss the rest of the season.

Bobby Valentine:
He got hit pretty good in a bad place. I was hoping it was going to be a little more down on the meat. It's right on the bone.
He is the 25th Boston player to go on the disabled list this year, the most in any Red Sox season in more than 40 years (1971).

Danny Valencia has been called up to take his place on the roster.

This isn't a baseball season, it's a six-month-long episode of The Twilight Zone.
