White Sox teammates Jake Burger (3B) and Jace Fry (P) appeared in a game together for the first time on Saturday.
The third base umpire was John Bacon. (Jerry Meals was working in Cleveland.)
Unable to attend: Phil Coke, Steve Gerkin, Frank Onion, Mayo Smith, Bud Weiser, Clarence Beers, Willie Bunn, A.J. "Sweet Lettuce" Griffin, Ian Mustard, and (for dessert) Pie Traynor and Jack Coffey in the Taylor Teagarden.
That deluxe pairing sounds like some good Eaton, but maybe we should get this order To-Go. (Can Dennis Eckersley can tell us if Fry was throwing cheese or salad?)
After five innings, the Tigers led 7-5, so the White Sox were forced to play ketchup. Chicago ended up losing 11-5 and neither Burger nor Fry touched the plate.
(Tip: If you're in Victoria, BC, and want an amazing burger, go to The Pink Bicycle.)
