This book is amazing. It flows very well for a history book. It also has a ton on Newfoundland and how it was populated.

Was it about NYC? Banished Children of Eve, by Peter Quinn? I recommend that book a lot. It's about the 1863 draft riots. Very good NYC historical fiction.

How long after the surgery until you know if it's successful?
I should know by about a month, but there's a risk of complications for up to a year, and I need to abstain from intense physical activity for at least 5 months (So no hockey for me this season =( )
FWIW, my friend's surgery was successful. She was probably about your age when she had it, maybe a bit older, so that was 30 years ago or so.
